Helping a prestigious business school increase their TEDx event attendance

The London Business School invited the agency to create the marketing and event materials around their 2015 & 2016 TEDx talks at the London Geographical Society.

The 2015 theme was called Kaleidoscope. For the theme mark, we took inspiration from the geometric shapes of the iconic Gherkin building in the London business district—imagining an explosive moment of shapes and colors.

I applied the shapes to photos of iconic London buildings to see them from a new perspective. Collaborating with filmmakers around the world, we created a tryptic video that highlights the three parts of the ancient Greek roots of the word Kaleidoscope—beauty (kalos), shape (eidos), and examine (skopeo). The video played at the beginning of the event to set a contemplative tone and framework for the talks.

We designed motion graphics for the end frame and speaker names, plus a website, event signage and wayfinding, collateral, swag, name badges. We suggested they buy a red rug for speakers to stand on during the filming.

For the 2016 event, our work included graphics and copy plus teaser videos for organic social media event promotion. I suggested a branded background for the stage.

Patron ticket sales showed a 3x increase and regular attendees remarked on the improved and professional look and feel of the event materials.
